100 Days, 100 Artifacts: 52 - 55

In our newest installment of the ongoing 100 Days, 100 Artifacts online exhibit, an exploration of St. Charles History through artifacts we'll take a look at a St. Charles manufacturers wide array of products, pre-view an upcoming exhibit at the Museum, and look back at the history of Memorial Day.

Day 52, Artifact 52

Pithe helmets, suitcases and much more were made by the Hawley Company. There products were made of numerous layers of paper that was put under pressure and heat which then bonds the layers together.
