The St. Charles History Museum is currently looking for volunteers to help with the Museum collection and exhibits as well as help at Museum events.  No matter your age or skill level, the History Museum has many available volunteer opportunities.  A minimum commitment of a four-hour shift either once a week or biweekly for at least six months is required. Hours available 10am-4pm, Wednesday through Saturday.

All volunteers receive one free Museum Volunteer t-shirt. And once you have volunteered 10 hours at the Museum, you’ll receive a complimentary Museum membership. Volunteers with 50 or more hours of volunteering qualify for additional appreciation gifts from area businesses.

GREETERS & GIFT SHOP VOLUNTEERS

Greeters and Gift Shop Volunteers watch the front desk, greet guests, answer phones, and operate the cash registers in the front lobby and gift shop. Greeters and gift shop volunteers are responsible for handling the money and running the registers and for being the face of the museum as they greet visitors and make them feel welcome. These volunteers work directly with the public and are vital to the museum's mission to share the history of St. Charles with the public. 
Training Required: Orientation One Hour

Collections & Archives Volunteers

The collections & archives volunteer will help with research, help care for and manage the collections (Archives, 3D Objects, and Textiles) that belong to the collection of the Museum. Collections & Archives volunteers must have patience, attention to detail, and the flexibility to meet the needs of the day. Must be good at typing, critical reading, proofreading, data entry, and spelling.

Training Required: Orientation (2) One Hour Sessions

Administrative Volunteers

An administrative volunteer provides additional assistance to Museum Staff and is responsible for helping with daily clerical and office duties. An administrative volunteer will need to be comfortable using a computer and the Internet. This person will work along staff to contribute to the overall administrative upkeep of the museum.

Training Required: Orientation One-Two Hours
